I spoke with Marquise Simmons following his unofficial visit to Mizzou on Thursday. He shared his thoughts on how the visit went.
"Love it down there! The coaches were 100 with me," said Simmons. It felt like a official visit the way the coaches all treated me. They all talk to me like if I was there son, especially Coach (Brad) Davis."
I asked Marquise if the coaches spoke about a possible offer on his visit?
"The coaches want to see my first 3 games this year, and then they will determine if they will offer. A lot of my film I have from the last two years is a lot of pass blocking because we throw the ball so much. They are looking for guys who can run block well. So they want to see my early season run blocking."
It sounds like the Mizzou staff have some definite ideas as to how they see Simmons possibly fitting in if they offer though.
"They like me at guard are center. They said they like my long arms; I have a 6'8" wingspan. They told me they taking taking 5 to 6 offensive lineman in this year's class. So we'll see what happens."
Marquise is a very athletic 6'4" 315-pound offensive lineman. He has a verified 29" vertical jump and 5.2 forty time at the Elite combine. He also has some of the quickest feet and great explosion off the ball. He uses his long arms and huge hands well in both run and pass blocking.
He plays left tackle and makes it near impossible for kids to get around him with his wing span and feet. The top guys at the Elite combine (including Etinosa Reuben) had to really battle him.
