I caught up with recent Missouri Tigers 2018 football offer Mario Goodrich 6'2" 180 WR/CB to talk about getting his first offer from his home state team.

"I was surprised," said Goodrich."I thought I was just going up there to see the game.I wasn't expecting them to offer me at all."

Goodrich said he had been talking to Mizzou and Coach Hill for a few weeks, but they had not said what their interest level in him was.

"Coach Hill had just said that they liked how I played. I spoke with him and Coach Odom when I was up there, and Coach Odom said that they watched my game film and that he was very impressed and wanted me to be a Tiger. He asked how soon did I want to commit, and that if he beat me in basketball that I had to come to Mizzou," Goodrich said with a laugh.

The talented multi-sport athlete has multiple D1 offers in basketball, including from DePaul, Tulsa,Miami (OH) and Denver as a guard.

"I'm open and will see what happens to decide which sport I want to play, football or basketball, in college,"he said.

I asked Goodrich his thoughts on the Tigers football program following the offer?

"I like them. Being the first to offer me for football was nice. I really liked how the crowd was so into the game. I like the coaches and all the people there. I know Kevin Pendleton and Ryan Williams since they went to my school. They have a lock down defense, and an explosive offense. I liked how they threw the ball."

I asked him if he had a preference between playing offense or defense?

'I like defense because I like to hit people. But I also like making plays with the ball in my hand. So, we'll see about which side of the ball I would play. The Tiger coaches said they like me as an athlete right now."

Besides Missouri, Goodrich is also hearing from Purdue and Cincinnati.

The Lee's Summit West junior has been clocked in the forty at 4.4, and while he hasn't tested his vertical jump, he is a high riser on the basketball court.

He plans to make a decision before his senior season.
